Lab Introduction:

Cancer spread, also known as metastasis, is a term that instills fear in any cancer patient and is the primary factor determining cancer mortality or morbidity. The very complex and intricate nature of the signaling pathways that drive this process limits therapeutic approaches to treat metastatic cancers. Thus, a deeper comprehension of the metastatic process is likely essential for effectively targeting and treating the disease.

We use multidisciplinary approaches in our lab to understand the molecular basis of cellular metastasis, especially EMT switching and cancer cell survival. We are also interested in developing nanocomplex drug delivery systems for efficient and targeted therapies in cancer. We mostly rely on extramural grants for our research provided by various national and international funding agencies. Over the last few years, our research has been funded by most of the funding bodies in India, like UGC (2017), SERB (2018), CSIR (2020), DBT (2022), and DBT (2026).

We always welcome students and scholars interested in this field of research to apply for various positions that become available from time to time. They can reach us at beighm@uok.edu.in to discuss and inquire about possible research positions.
